World Milk Day has been celebrated every June 1 since 2001. Created by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), it acknowledges the worldwide contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition.
The day features various activities across the globe, with 80 countries organizing 588 events last year! This is a perfect time to host visitors to your dairy or maybe provide a milk donation to a local school or feeding shelter.
But, you don’t need to host an event to bring awareness to how important milk is for healthy nutrition and to share how the dairy sector supports the livelihoods of up to 1 billion people worldwide!
Here are some tips from the dairy checkoff’s Undeniably Dairy team on how to engage through your social media channels:
Raise a “virtual” glass to employees, industry partners, customers and consumers in honor of their devotion to dairy.
Have people share photos of raised glasses and tag other dairy community members to toast/tag someone else, creating a “pay it forward” effect across online communities.
Visit dairyhub.org to download an Undeniably Dairy World Milk Day Facebook frame that you can use on your profile.
Be sure to include #WorldMilkDay and #UndeniablyDairy on your social media content. Spread the word about June 1 to your family members, employees, agribusiness members and others you engage with frequently.
