I hope the 2020 spring planting season has been good to you. Despite large rainfalls in some areas, this spring has been a relief compared to last year and we hope favorable weather continues.
One of the founding principles of Edge is to keep our members’ best interests front and center. Edge is here to add value, plain and simple.
When COVID-19 hit, Edge board and staff implemented an action plan rooted in four elements.
We assess ongoing individual member concerns, questions and feedback. We scan what’s happening in the marketplace and distribution channels with input from processors that buy your milk. We monitor the public health aspects of COVID-19 and how this will impact our communities and farms alike.
This information is evaluated and shared with our board and staff, including our Washington, D.C., policy team, so we can direct meaningful policy and regulatory considerations. Especially in a crisis, you need to make informed decisions based on fact, not emotion. Edge has been a valuable and influential “voice of milk” with the administration and congressional leadership because of our approach to practical solutions.
We keep you in the loop through effective and timely communication. Transparency is vital to Edge. In addition, Edge is a trusted resource to many news outlets. It’s important to make sure your interests are represented well by the media.
Edge is always adjusting our human and capital resources to ensure we will have the most effective impact. Not unlike the demands on your farms, we realize the need to be nimble and wise in allocating resources to deliver the best possible results. This is why the Edge board and staff review these four steps constantly and adjust our approach as things continually change.
The bottom line is we create and execute our strategies with you in mind.
