"Personhood litigation: The next frontier in animal rights activism"
Hosted by Dairy Business Association
How should we categorize animals under the law? Traditionally, we have viewed them as property, although we also protect them against mistreatment and abuse. A growing movement is underway to try to have courts reconsider this. Animal rights activists have been pushing for animals to have the same rights as people. In this webinar, we’ll look at recent personhood lawsuits, including the now famous, monkey selfie case. We’ll learn about the arguments that are being made in this type of litigation and what they teach us about what to expect next.
