Over the next two weeks, your congressional representatives and senators will be out and about in their districts providing a valuable opportunity for you to engage them. Their Easter recess begins on Saturday and runs through April 28.

We need to keep pressure on members of Congress to ensure they act on the issues vital to the dairy community.

Two issues you can make an impact on are trade and ensuring a sustainable workforce.

The United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) will be before Congress soon and we need to ensure your lawmakers support it. The USMCA retains tariff-free access for our dairy products into our No. 1 export market, Mexico, and provides additional market access into Canada.

The agricultural labor debate is heating up and we need to build on the momentum so lawmakers finally act on this issue. The need for a practical guest worker program is growing more critical every month. Currently, there is no specific bill that fully addresses our needs of providing a method to retain existing workers and creating a pathway for new workers. Lawmakers need to know that an ag labor solution is vital to the success of the dairy community.

Check the websites and your local newspaper for the in-district schedules of your lawmakers, who will be at town halls and other community events. This website tracks town halls. (Please note Edge has no affiliation with the website and does not endorse messages that may appear there.)

Lastly, please let the Edge policy team know about your encounters with your congressmen and women over the next few weeks.

As always, reach out to us at any time.

Thank you,
