I want to take a moment to thank our Edge members involved in local farmer-led conservation groups. These members have stepped up to the plate to take on the environmental stewardship initiatives to protect our natural resources.
You are true problem solvers and innovators. Farmers engaged in these groups are not living by the old agriculture default of the past: “duck, deny, deflect, delay.” That didn’t work then and won’t work in the future. Regardless of farm size or management style, you are true trailblazers and are creating a better future for all of us by working collaboratively to improve our environment and our farming methods. You are the future of farming.
As an organization we are committed to supporting these farmers and their initiatives. Last year, Edge and The Nature Conservancy co-funded a staff position to support local farmer-led conservation projects in Wisconsin. This role helps document improvements made on the farms.
Not only does it foster continuous improvement, but it offers third-party credibility. This is vital as we foster greater transparency, trust and teamwork.
Farmers hold the key to success and, when empowered, are unstoppable. Here at Edge we are committed to supporting all of our members throughout your journey.
