High school seniors who plan to study agriculture, animal science, agronomy, conservation, horticulture, or a separate field connected to agriculture in college are encouraged to apply for the brand new John Pagel college scholarship.
The fund is being established by the Green Bay Gamblers and Pagel's Ponderosa Dairy LLC to honor the memory of John Pagel, a Kewaunee County dairy farmer who was killed in a plane crash last year.
To apply, students must write an essay of 500 words or less about why they want to work in agriculture. The winner will receive $3,000 to be used for their continuing education.
The deadline to submit essays is March 29, with the winner being recognized at the Dairy Day hockey game in Green Bay on April 7.
