I attended the International Cheese Technology Expo recently in Milwaukee. It is always an eye-opening experience to see the innovation, passion and creativity of our cheesemakers, their suppliers and service providers. Their combined knowledge and expertise is a great asset to the greater dairy community.

Kudos to our processors for the great work they do and award-winning products they make for the world marketplace. Due to their commitment to quality and exceeding their customers’ expectations, dairy farmers have great market opportunities today and into the future.

This competitive advantage can only be capitalized on if we have open access to the global marketplace. The ongoing efforts of Edge to communicate with and influence our trade negotiators is vital. As we inch toward reforms with NAFTA and other trade opportunities, U.S. dairy is poised to deliver what the international marketplace wants, and we will make sure your voice is heard to capitalize on these opportunities.

We realize that the dairy economy is stressed and all farmers are looking for favorable outcomes. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of all farmers speaking up when you see your legislators back in your districts. It reinforces our efforts and reminds them how important the issues are to your farm. With our combined efforts, we will make progress and help dairy remain strong.

My best,

Tim
